Meet the artists

Visa commissioned more than 20 artists from six continents to create visual representations of their home countries, as a way to celebrate the diverse traditions and stories that make football universal.

Wiam Azhar

Originally trained as an architect, Wiam Azhar finds painting, which she practices as a self-taught artist, a means of escape and personal expression. She sees herself as an observer of everyday life, capturing its essence through figurative work that incorporates emblematic elements of Moroccan culture. Tinged with nostalgia, her brightly colored frescoes with their detailed composition capture moments and emotions that resonate with collective memory.

Ethiopia

Efrata Birhanu

Efrata Birhanu is an Ethiopian multidisciplinary visual and mural artist working across murals, painting, and illustration. Deeply shaped by the environments and communities around her, her work draws from memory, everyday life, and the emotional connection people have with spaces. Balancing bold visual language with quiet moments of reflection, she creates art that feels both personal and familiar. Moving between large-scale public murals and studio-based works, Efrata transforms spaces into immersive visual experiences that respond to their surroundings and atmosphere.

Côte d'Ivoire

Allanva

Allanva is an Ivorian digital artist, comics illustrator, and publisher whose work lives at the intersection of manga, bande dessinée, and African visual culture. Collaborating with publishers such as Label 619, Dupuis, Rue de Sèvres, Dupuis and Metal Hurlant, he has built a distinctive voice rooted in rhythm, movement, and narrative energy. His illustrations blend bold storytelling with deeply expressive characters, drawing from both Japanese visual culture and the vibrant spirit of the streets of Côte d'Ivoire.
